During the period of this note the Ottoman Empire did not use the lunar AH (Anno Hegirae, Year of the Hijira) calendar, but was dating according the RC (Roman Calendar, Rumi Takvim), which was based on the solar year. This was a calendar only used for fiscal purposes in Turkey, and which was subject in these days to two calendar reforms.
